Abstract:
As a dark matter candidate coupling to the electromagnetic field, the axion has been the focus of
significant efforts to identify its signatures in the spectra of various astrophysical objects. These
underlying radiative processes, however, often take place in ionized environments subject to
plasma instabilities. In this talk, I will provide an overview of the theory of axion–plasma interactions,
focusing specifically on the Buneman instability.
