“Spectrum of axion dark matter from strings?”

Ken’ichi Saikawa

(Universidad de Kanazawa)

Abstract:

Axion is one of the best motivated candidates for dark matter. In this talk, we discuss the production of dark matter axions in the early universe,
mainly focusing on the scenario where the Peccei-Quinn symmetry is broken after inflation. In this scenario, axions could be produced by the
decay of cosmic strings, and understanding of the spectrum of axions radiated by the strings is indispensable for a sharp prediction for "typical"
axion dark matter mass. After discussing current issue on this topic, we present some results form large scale simulations of axion strings.
